To all PCPartPicker users: This site is dedicated to you. I've been for you from the beginning, and I'm more dedicated than ever to incorporating your feedback and improving the site.

My name is Philip, and many of you know I have been building PCPartPicker for the past two years. During that time I also worked a full-time job (in addition to the responsibilities of being a husband, and a father to two children). I am extremely excited to announce that as of today I am now working full-time on PCPartPicker.

I am unbelievably excited to be starting on this journey, and even more thankful to everyone who supports this site. I started PCPartPicker because I love it - not for money - and now I get to do it as my full-time job. It is truly a dream come true. It all started on a couch, coded late at night while the rest of the family slept. Later it migrated to my garage, where I enjoyed the delightful fragrances of our diaper pail a few feet away while benchmarking hardware. Now I'm thankfully back in air-conditioning (a must for Texas summertime weather) and no longer sharing space with dirty diapers. I can't wait to see what the future brings.

Know that I listen closely to your feedback and work diligently to incorporate what I can. As always, I love to hear your feedback and suggestions. The best way to reach me is via email at href="mailto:philip@pcpartpicker.com">philip@pcpartpicker.com or using the contact form. You can also find me on Reddit's /r/buildapc as user pcpartpicker.

Many people have asked if I take donations - I don't. Instead, you can support the site by spreading the word and telling your friends. You can find PCPartPicker on Facebook (with a "Like" button in the header of this page), follow PCPartPicker on Twitter, and subscribe to the PCPartPicker channel on YouTube.

I look forward to further serving the do-it-yourself computer building community. I've got some great features in the pipeline that I can't wait to show everyone. The best is yet to come!

It's a shame your site isn't as well known as it should be. It really helped me out with building my PC. Best of luck to you and I know I'll be checking back frequently.

smashcut 6 points 82 months ago

Philip, Truly a fantastic job. People use and appreciate the work you're doing. I'm excited to see what this site turns into with you on it full time. I predict you're going to be a big name very soon.

Keep up the fantastic work

Seriously love the site, tell all of my friends who will be building computers to use it. It makes things so much easier to keep track of. Thanks for all the hard work and best of luck with PCPartpicker!

Might I ask where in Texas? I am in Texas as well, perhaps when I get my own custom built PC (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/b0W5) we could get benchmark on the parts choosen. I live in Dallas. lotrdbzfan@gmail.com

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 6 points 82 months ago

I'm in Austin. I'm actually in the process of adding Ivy Bridge benchmarks this week, and should a very similar combination going soon (i5-3570K, 560Ti, 64GB M4).

SherwoodForest 3 Builds 2 points 82 months ago

Lol I'm in DFW as well, waiting on my Prodigy to get in so I can start the watercooling. On that note Philip can we get some serious addtions to a watercooling build tab (albeit almost impossible with a partlist that big) would be sweet! Keep up the goodwork man and Good luck to you!

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 82 months ago

Waiting on the BitFenix Prodigy, I assume? If so, that looks like a fantastic case (I've also got one on preorder for an upcoming build video).

For watercooling, that's something I'll look into!

chewbacca123 4 points 82 months ago

cheers mate your site is awesome! looking forward to the new stuff.

gregegg 4 points 82 months ago

All the best to you. I appreciate your site.

mortey 4 points 82 months ago

LOVE the website! Can't wait to see what else you got going on.

croce 4 points 82 months ago

Thanks from me as well. I spent a lot of time reading in forums how to start building a new PC but couldn't really get there (which CPU is compatible with this MOBO and so on). By accident, I saw another member's PCpartpicker saved build, and that was it. In 2 days of studying everything closely, I had my package ready. I'm receiving the parts today and can't wait to put them together- live life on the edge, I'm going ahead and trying it. Cheers!

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 3 points 82 months ago

Fantastic! Once you build your own, there's no going back. If you run into any snags, feel free to contact me if I can be of help. Though I'm sure you'll have no problems at all. There's nothing like seeing that BIOS boot screen pop up the first time you build. Emjoy!

Griezz 4 points 82 months ago

Quite frankly, this website is THE most useful site I have ever seen, in terms of putting together a personal computer using user-selected parts (as opposed to generic branded computers). I wish this site had been around years ago.

dtp11 4 points 82 months ago

This is great news, philip! I can't wait to see this already awesome site improve in the future now that you can put more time into it!

I'm from Canada and I just heard about your site this year and have already used it to put a couple different builds together. Thank you for the excellent site!

Hopefully in the future more Canadian PC part-selling websites can be added and maybe some day the prices can reflect current sale prices too. That would put this site over the top as you would then truly feel like you're getting the best deal possible! People wouldn't go anywhere else!

Anyway, thanks again and best of luck!

Nettacki 4 points 82 months ago

I appreciate your work Philip. Thanks for what you've done for us.

ghettograyson 3 points 82 months ago

I found this site a few weeks ago this is one of the most amazing tools for buildings PC's. Before I was managing all the prices on spreadsheets then I stumbled across this website and my life became easier. Keep up the great work and I was just curious if there were any plans for forums? :D

I also noticed the link to your reddit profile directs to pcpartpicker.com/blog/pcpartpicker

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 2 points 82 months ago

Not sure on forums just yet. Still gradually integrating commenting into the site, so I'll have to see if there's a good way to fit that in. And thanks for letting me know about the bad profile link - I've fixed it (had the link markup backwards).

RTWinter 3 points 82 months ago

I love this site! It saved me a bunch on shipping when it showed me that the best prices were at a local brick-and-mortar store and not online. Cheers!

sqrldg 3 points 82 months ago

Philip, you rock! Thanks for the awesome site, I'll start spreading the word!

henro14 2 points 82 months ago

Love the site. Hope it continues to grow!

Supershinylad 2 points 82 months ago

Great site, but could you please add Aria to the sites for the UK?

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 2 points 82 months ago

Will definitely look into it - thanks!

sotossotos 2 points 82 months ago

Man this site is so good :D You can try builds so you can see all the different twiches you can make so as to impact the budged of the build that is really brilliant.

Thank you for continuing and supporting this site

gogo809 3 Builds 2 points 82 months ago

Phenomenal site!

If this is what you can do in your "spare time", I cannot WAIT to see what comes down the pipe!

FYI: Your site has saved me about $100 off the build I am doing right now, and I'm not even done ordering components yet!

ebern9 2 Builds 2 points 82 months ago

Awesome! I use the site to plan all my builds everytime, I love how you started adding AUS prices, really helps when I need to quote something. Keep it going!

andyrofl 2 points 82 months ago

You don't take donations, but do you get any referral revenue for people ordering via your site? I want to help out in any way I can. You have certainly helped me.

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 2 points 82 months ago

I really appreciate your support! I do receive referral revenue if someone clicks through to a retailer and purchases something. Thanks!

NickMcNab 2 points 82 months ago

I have been spreading the word as its such a great layout, I make sure to let everyone know about it. And as others have already said you can tell this website will be the go to website for all pc builds.

vai31647 2 points 82 months ago

love the site its really helping me build my first pc

eiberri 2 points 82 months ago

Thanks Philip, this is a great site and I appreciate all the hard work you're doing. While I haven't actually been able to get around to purchasing anything for my build yet, I still come to the site to check for blog updates and to see price changes.

pc_noob 1 Build 2 points 82 months ago

You have done a great job with this site this well greatly help me with my goal to build my first gaming rig thanks for all the work that you have done many of the user well be coming in the up coming furture as this site becomes more know with pc builders and frist timers like me :) so once again thank you for this great site

hellfried 2 points 82 months ago

Congratulations! Your site is extremely useful, keep up the good work.

dlf 1 Build 1 point 82 months ago

I think, and probably some others would as well, it could be helpful for those that are still considering what parts to get if they can get comments from the other users. Ex. I'm considering various SSD and GPU's for my own (I have no parts) . . . .

gogo809 3 Builds 1 point 82 months ago

For this to make sense there also needs to be some way for you to let others know you need help. Consider joining one of the many forums that already exist out there. Use PcPartPicker to create "BBCode Markup" (button underneath "Price Breakdown by Merchant" tab near the top of the "System Build" page. Most of the forums I belong to use BB Code. It creates a neat build post you can copy and paste into any forum message. Try any of the following forums: (all of them have helpful active members). * Core-Authority * Toms Hardware * Overclockers * Overclock.net * 'H'ard OCP

Maybe someday this site will have its own forums, but I kinda like it the way it is, as the best build tool ever made.

thedingers 1 point 82 months ago

Your site is excellent, thanks for the hard work on maintaining it. I was wondering what happened to inclusion of the "logical increments" system building guide links which were here back a few months ago?

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 82 months ago

I took down the logical increments guide temporarily as it wasn't seeing a lot of traffic, and keeping the part lists up to date with Falcon's version was fairly time consuming. I hope to have something equivalent soon though. If not, I'll bring it back.

Thad_Stott 1 point 82 months ago

Congratulations Philip. Best of luck to you and your success. There is no better service out there for custom builders. I can't wait to see were this site will go now that you can dedicate full time to it.

Rmills 1 point 82 months ago

I know how to build computers and all but sometimes it is really hard work this makes it a BREEZE, but 1 thing could you add http://www.aria.co.uk/ to the list of shops

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 82 months ago

Will definitely look into adding Aria - will keep you posted.

Rmills 2 points 82 months ago

Could you implement a way to add a price onto a custom part as it makes it harder to see the Total Price! please

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 82 months ago

Will do!

Rmills 1 point 82 months ago

Do you need any help on the site because i may be able to help?

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 82 months ago

I think I'm ok for now, but if I do I'll be sure to let you know. Thanks!

Daanyal 1 point 82 months ago

Hi, I really love the website, recommend it to anyone who needs a new computer. Even if my client doesn't buy straight from the website for whatever reason, the website serves as a great organisational tool, for putting builds together.

Now that it's a full time thing for you, how often will the site be updated to cater for new parts?

Also, could you please add more Australian shops? Shops like MSY, CPL, and Centrecom. Thanks

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 2 points 82 months ago

Thanks! Glad you like the site.

I'm adding new parts daily, but there's still a large backlog. If there's a particular part you'd like to add to the database that doesn't exist yet, feel free to email me (philip@pcpartpicker.com) and I'll be happy to add it sooner rather than later. For the additional Australian shops - I'll definitely look into adding those.

3rdDegreeBum 1 point 82 months ago

It would be really cool if you worked out a deal with newegg or ncix (or any other hardware company) to sell hardware directly from the site

dtp11 1 point 82 months ago

Hey Philip,

I replied to the email you sent me, but I never heard back from you (perhaps my email went to the spam/junk folder... or maybe you're just busy)!

Anyway, here is part of the message I sent you:

"It's great to hear that you'll eventually add the ability to parse the different merchant sale prices!

As for stores I'd like to see added, I've compiled a nice list of Canadian PC part retailers:

  2. http://www.bestdirect.ca/
  3. http://www.futureshop.ca/
  4. http://www.bestbuy.ca/

  14. http://www.pc-canada.com/
  15. http://www.pcvonline.com/
  16. http://www.ats-systems.com/
  17. http://www.a-power.com/
  18. http://www.bewawa.com/
  19. http://www.hltechnology.com/
  20. http://www.ashlin.ca/
  21. http://www.sharksystems.com/
  22. http://www.agileelectronics.ca/
  23. http://www.cdw.ca/

  30. http://www.mostlydigital.ca/
  31. http://www.wizbits.biz/catalog/index.php
  32. http://www.pcvillagecanada.com/

The first seven are for sure legit sites... the rest of them are just sites I've come across in my online travels, but have never purchased anything from (so I can't necessarily vouch for them)."

...If anyone else on here from Canada can vouch for the other 25 sites I listed, please do so!

With that many sites added, we'll be sure to get the BEST deals possible on our future PC builds!

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 2 points 82 months ago

Sorry for not replying sooner - I definitely did get your email. Thanks for the list - that's quite comprehensive! I will take a look at those and see what I can do.

dtp11 1 point 82 months ago

hey philip, sorry, I should have known you were busy! thanks for looking into the list! there was one little thing I omitted from the above post that I said in my email... if you ever get a chance, would you be so kind as to reply to that question? that would be awesome! thanks again :)

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 2 points 82 months ago

No worries - sorry it took so long to respond. I've replied to your email as well.

vidar 1 Build 1 point 82 months ago

I wanted to hump your leg vigorously when I saw this website. It does everything to make the desktop build buying experience easier. I'll spread the word as much as I can!

Daanyal 1 point 82 months ago

I've just had an idea. Maybe be able to sort GPUs by how many expansion slots they take up? Maybe sort RAM and CPU coolers by the height? Sort PSUs by amps on the 12V rail?

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 82 months ago

Great suggestions. I'll look into those. Thanks!

Oliver 5 Builds 1 point 82 months ago

This website makes building sooooo much easier, and not to mention, by FAR cheaper. I am a somewhat inexperienced builder myself and if this website had a forum to ask pro builders about issues, that would be amazing! Do you have any known plans to do so?

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 82 months ago

Glad you find it helpful! Forums are a possibility, but I'm not sure on it just yet. :)

Oliver 5 Builds 1 point 80 months ago

I was looking at parts (MB's 2011) and found Asus Gene Micro Atx. All of Its specs are right but its pictures are of the Asus Rampage Formula?

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 80 months ago

Thanks for letting me know! I've removed the images for now (hopefully can find some correct ones).

benvoliothefirst 1 point 81 months ago

Congratulations, Philip, on making your dream into a reality. You should be very proud.

I found my way here from the shout-out in MaximumPC magazine, and I hope lots of other people do as well. Love the site.

philip staff submitter 10 Builds 1 point 81 months ago

Thanks! I really appreciate it. Out of curiosity, was it the print version of MaximumPC? If so, what month? (I heard it made it in one, but haven't been able to find out which one yet. Want to get hold of one if I can as a keepsake. :) )

I read at some point of you mentioning it, I just wanted to know. Thank You for your dedication and the site. It has helped me out, a lot.
