First ever gaming rig after years of gaming on my school laptop. This upgrade is like finally trying on your first pair of comfortable boxers after wearing whitey tighties two sizes too tight for the first 23 years of your life. First time building was a blast. There's something very satisfying about building a computer then getting it to boot. I have been researching for this build for nearly 5 months and I am very glad that I waited as long as I did. The amount of performance you can get in a mid-range build right now is incredible.

CPU

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor

Lives up to the hype. There isn't much else to say about it.

CPU Cooler

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition 42 CFM CPU Cooler

I read that the box cooler that comes with the 3600 is a bit loud. This cooler runs extremely quiet and keeps cpu temperatures relatively cool.

Motherboard

MSI B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard

Purchased with the BIOS already updated to support Ryzen 3000 from Microcenter. I have had 0 problems with the board so far.

Memory

Crucial Ballistix Sport AT 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory

This kit is only $58 if bundled with a ryzen 3000 cpu from microcenter. It's good cheap ram. Was able to achieve small OC. I'm sure I could push it further but I am satisfied with the current performance I am getting.

Video Card

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB GAMING OC Video Card

Probably would have opted for an EVGA card if they weren't sold out when . However, this card has been a beast out of the box. It has crushed any game I have thrown at it at 1440p max settings.

Case

NZXT H500 ATX Mid Tower Case

Fell in love with the clean design from NZXT. Stock fans seem to be doing a decent job but I might upgrade them in the future for aesthetic purposes. Cable management was a breeze for a first time builder.

Monitor

LG 32GK650F-B 32.0" 2560x1440 144 Hz Monitor

I came from playing on a 1080p 60hz display. This change has been revolutionary for me. Only small complaint is that 32" is huge. I wouldn't even call it a complaint. Just something I am getting used to. Freesync seems to be working like a charm.

Concur 32” takes some getting used to, what a nice problem tho. Fantastic isn’t it? Had a 24”, drove to Best Buy to check out 27 “ displays, saw a 32” next to one, ordered one on my phone right then & there. For 1440p it’s been awesome. Ultrawides are alright but I like the extra height for my field of view.

I would move the top exhaust fan to the bottom front fan slot as an intake for the gpu.

GPUs pretty much don't care about that, only difference in terms of thermals would be if side panel opened. Of yourse he could add another fan to the front but the top one for exhaust is essential.

Hey there, how quiet is the 212 black? you describe it as very quiet, how loud is it if you take the side panel off under load? I have a mesh case so i'm looking at a decent budget option to replace my loud wraith stealth stock fan. What temps do you get under a stress test?

My case fans are noticeably louder than the hyper 212 and the case fans aren’t very loud. As far as the thermals go, I haven’t put it through a stress test. I’ve never seen it go over 65 while gaming.

Nice Build. Just curious if you've had any issues with RTX GPU Fan being really loud at boot up? Seems to be an issue with 3rd Gen Ryzen and Nvidia RTX cards.

WOW that CPU and GPU temp are real bro? I just saw someone with Meshify C gets and 5700XT got 72. Did you use 2 fans for intake at the front? And did you use fan hub or something to manage the fans? Thanks in advance

Yep I have been very impressed with the gigabyte card. The fans are very quiet and keep the card very cool with a lot of oc headroom. I’ve kept the case fans in the stock configuration both set to exhaust. From watching reviews about the case, adding two front fans does not increase airflow by very much.

So I am a complete noob and will be building my first PC. Does this CPU cooler works well with a 3600x Ryzen CPU and the B450 MSI motherboard. It seems you have that setup but just double checking. also did it need an additional mount?

It should work fine for all AM4 motherboards.

3600X does come with a better stock cooler than the regular 3600, so you may not necessarily need an aftermarket cooler unless it's for aesthetics.

Perhaps check the performance of the stock cooler before you decide to purchase an aftermarket solution?

I personally have a regular 3600 and looking at this same cooler to replace my stock cooler.
