Description

The inspiration for the build came from my wife who saw I was having issues determining what I wanted to do. She said one word, Fallout, and it all came together from there. As a programmer, I had to go with 404 as the vault number for the build.

Starting with the top, I went with a front pull configuration with the radiator so I opened the top using Fractal-Design’s ModuVent system. The cover is for when the system is not in use, and is normally on display on my desk. It is made of acrylic covered in vinyl.

The right-side panel image was painstakingly applied by my wife. The image is black and had to be layered on top of white vinyl to make the text and image pop.

The front panel has been changed to blue and the 404 vault symbol was added in yellow.

The RGB work within the build was a collaboration with jmmods. Those folks are great and tolerated a lot of design changes from me on what was to be cut. The inner panel features the centerpiece, the vault boy and the Fractal-Design logo.

The back plate features an Approved By Vault-Tec logo which is also an awesome work of art. The GPU also has a support bracket with a similar design to the Meshify-C front panel laser etched into it. Gives a little insight to what the build actually began as. Originally, the design was going to go into a Meshify-C, but decided on the space of the Define R6, and am glad I did.

The vertical GPU exit ports were covered with acrylic covered in vinyl with the lantern for the Railroad in Fallout 4.

CableMod extensions were used in green and black to bring in the green color from the PipBoy screen in Fallout.

Cool! Can you explain how you made the vault boy panel? What does the panel look like with the lights off?

  • 1 point

The panel was made by jmmods, awesome people to work with if you need custom rgb panels or back plates (plus a bunch of other stuff).

It's an acrylic panel that they cut based on the design I sent them and the Fractal-Design metal panel (I actually shipped the panel to them so they could match it).

I'll take a picture or two tonight with the lights out to show the difference. Good idea, I didn't take any with the system off.

how did u paint the back panel?

  • 2 points

Back panel is a vinyl graphic, we had to layer the vinyl to get the black image to pop off the back panel.

  • 1 point

owwwww, It makes sense Now... 1 more question, did you also use a vinyl graphic on the mascot? I can't tell cause of the outline around it.

  • 2 points

The Vault Boy and GPU back plate inside the case are laser cut and painted acrylic.

Lmao I`ll be using your computer as an inspiration for my build.

sorry for all the questions..... Planning on doing the same thing but a different theme.

Can't decide on whether to get a professional to do for me or do it my own... Never ordered engrave acrylic and vinyl graphic before :/

is it expensive?

What kind of temps are you getting on your cpu, i was going to go with the non x and was debating between some 360 AIOs

This question is regarding your motherboard and RAM. Any issues running 4 sticks on that motherboard? Everywhere I check they say if its dual channel only do 2 sticks.

If I buy 2 sticks now and sometime later I buy 2 more sticks, is it alright if I end up with 4x16? Even though I would have bought the 2 kits couple months part.

So - what are you gonna play on this thing?

All jokes aside, great build. Love the aesthetic.

How much clearance do you have between the end of the video card and storage rack? 1.5in?

I’ve been looking for a case for my next upgrade (downsizing from a Core X9) and planed on either an Evolve X or CM H500M until I saw your build. I love the LED panel concept. Makes great use of an otherwise blank space. Can you provide any more detail into what you needed to send to jmmods as far as artwork goes? Did you have to send them a vector of each color or did they just work off a bitmap you sent them?

I see your panel on their site now as an option. I already intended to get a GPU backplate from them so this would be a nice tie in.

Cos the man like is that way. I don't get it why are people so fascist these days about totally dumb things. All over the internet you can find people arguing over brands and telling you what to buy or not to buy. If you ask me... Just go for whatever you like for your own God-damn, hard-earned money. Listen to everyone but still do what you want to do.

Where did you get fascist? He only asked why he chose to go with AMD and NVIDIA. Not fascist lol

That makes sense. I was just slightly confused by it but that makes way more sense
