Description

Completed this build after selling my other computer, very happy with how this build turned out. I'm sure there are some people who are going to be upset that I used corsair fans and corsair RGB strips in this build but I'm super happy with how it looks.

The only thing I was disappointed with was that the white cables I bought for my power supply didn't come with and cable combs. That and the upside down corsair logo ;-;

Part Reviews

Motherboard

No LLC vdroop kills high load overclocks. I have it running with my 8700k and all of the settings 1-7 don't do anything (strange considering i had an asus z170 mobo without this issue)

watched this video and it seems like a known issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCAQpvFhiUs

Case

Perfect case, only issue I had was trying to put a 280mm rad in the front with fans pulling air. I ended up having to put the fans as push and putting my rgb fans hidden behind it. I'm glad I did cause the front lighting up RGB through the hole looks great.

Case Fan

Best looking fans, I was going to get the Thermaltake Riing fans and I'm glad I got these instead, my cousin got the riing fans and the software is awful and they dont look any where near as good as these.

Custom

Nice cables, however only downside is no included cable combs

Any reason for placing the corsair cooler upside down? Looking neat though

I put it in with the cables coming out of the same side of the block as my old h100i which is the correct orientation and didn't notice until after I finished building that it wasn't. I will end up flipping it over after I delid the CPU.

My guess is the hoses interfere with the top mounted case fans.

They might but it was actually just a mistake I don't know why corsair has the USB Plug on the bottom of this cooler it feels like it should be at the top so that's how i put it.

I have this exact cooler mounted in the same case as well, when mounted right side up its hard to put the tempered glass as the hoses are forced in when putting on the tempered glass.

I'll keep that in mind, I'm going to try to flip it the correct way after I delid, looked at your build not sure how I feel about having my tubes crossed like that

I like this case. I think we pretty much built the same machine except I got the MSI 1080 ti trio. I've got a soft spot for MSI...despite hearing that they are the ones that fail most often on mining rigs. but i won't be mining sooooo...

I wanted to get that card or the asus strix card but I went with this one because I was able to get it used for like $350 cheaper then getting those two. I need to change it out one of these days cause its the only thing that isn't RGB

good job going with the corsair lightning node instead of hue+ that software is horrible... Looks GREAT tho good job

never had a single problem with it, post-2016 Hue+ software has been patched and is functional. My CorsairLink and CorsairUtility however almost never work right

Damn that sucks... my hue+ came with a busted wire and a cracked shell so I'm pretty salty bout that but hopefully corsair patches their software D:

yeah I saw the reviews on the HUE+ so decided on this one instead, I ended up only using 2 of the led strips and gave 2 to my cousin to use since the fans also came with a lighting node pro.

Corsair LINK is unfortunately perfect, sometimes when I sleep my computer it makes it so I cant control the fans and led strips until I reset other then that I'm really happy with how they look.

Nothing wrong with Hue+, I have had no issues, same with 2 friends with same setups, it must have been a hardware issue!

How are the motherboard and RAM working together ? Some people said GSkill and ASUS's rgb lighting components are not compatible , but yours seem to be working.

I haven't had any issue, it seems I can't control the ram independently unless i select to colour by individual lighting zones. I don't mind that though I would run them the same anyways. It booted up and I had to change my DRAM SPD WRITE to enabled and then it worked.

Ah ok. Does the individual lighrinmg also work ok?

Yeah no issues on that

I saw the post about he overclocking, and that issue was fixed! Plus that was for AMD versions of the mobo, and the ones in that video were pre-release!! Nice build looks great!
